Within Joo Chiat and its immediate vicinity is a vibrant creative arts community that thrives on the bohemian feel of the area. Possibly Singapore’s largest congregation of artists, sculptors, designers, photographers, actors, writers, journalists and other creative talents reside in or work from this neighbourhood. They include four Cultural Medallion winners and, at Telok Kurau Studios, some 28 established artists and a number of art societies based there.
